Step by Step Guide to Getting your Solid Surface worktop quote

All solid surface worktops that are made by In 2 Solid Surfaces are bespoke and handmade at our workshop in Fareham (in between Portsmouth and Southampton).  With something as

 Choose your Material and Colour

There are over 7 different  brands of solid surface – with each having 50-100 colours! We order your material in after template to ensure we have the right amount and the sheets are all from the same batch. With the amount of different solid surfaces/ colours it would be impossible for us to hold stock.

If you are unsure – contact us to order samples – we can order 3 of each of the brands (some are more difficult to get hold of but we will always let you know)!

Decide on Design and Technical Considerations

Most options are down to preference but also practicality! For something that will be in your home for the next 10 -15 years, you need to make sure you have considered all of the options and let us know as much detail as you can.

Bowls – most people have 1 bowl or a bowl and 1/2. You could have one larger bowl or 2 full size smaller bowls. A lot is dependant on the size of your sink unit. See our handy guide to help – this is based on corian bowls but you can apply this to your own sink!

If you are having a boiling hot tap then you can not have a full solid surface sink. There are a number of solid surface sinks which have stainless steel bases to still give you the seamless look but to also be practicle when having a hot tap.

Solid Surface Sinks

Belfast or butler sinks

Undermount or Inset Sink

For these sinks we will cut the holes (an under mount cutout will be polished and an inset cut out unpolished.) We will also bring you sink back with us after template and install this for you free of charge.

Shape of you kitchen

This can affect how we manufacture your kitchen. We manufacture as much as we can in our workshop to make sure installation is a quick and clean as possible.

We have 4 groups of profiles. If you are looking for something more unique we can also help!

A majority of solid surfaces are 12mm thick and we manufacture upto the thickness you require using an MDF substraight.

Our standard thicknesses are:

The cost to manufacture to the thickness you require is included in our quotation.

Anything above 50mm will incur an additional cost. 12mm is also an option for extremely low profile worktops.

Coved Upstand

Plant on upstands

No Upstands

Coved upstands are great for the seamless look and also easy to clean. Plant on upstands are more traditional.

The higher the upstand the more expensive it will be. Coved upstands take longer to manufacture (plant on upstands are just the same material with the edges polished). Coved upstands require workmanship and time to achieve the desired look.

Overhangs – for breakfast bars, will need stainless support bars. Here are a few examples of some breakfast bars. If there is an unsupported are of over 230mm it will require support bars.

Draining Area – Draining Grooves / Recessed Drainer

Window cills

You can have a window cill to match your worktop, if you are having coved upstands then this can join to you window cill giving a ultra seamless look.

Other Cut Outs

For taps, pop up sockets/ downdrafts extractors.
